He is a former prosecutor, in both trials and appeals, who wrote and argued several notable cases, including People v. Farquan Forbes, 283 A.D.2d 92, 728 N.Y.S.2d 64 (2nd Dep’t 2001) a case of first impression in New York State, which set a precedent concerning search and seizure issues and police safety.
Subsequently, he started the Law Offices of Gary R. , PC and served as an attorney and counselor at law. At the law firm, he handles both civil and criminal matters.
On March 30 , 2023 he achieved a rare trial court Decision overturning a conviction by presenting newly discovered evidence in People v. Timothy Turner, 79 Misc.3d 473, 190 N.Y.S.3d 830 (Richmond Cty Sup. Ct. March 30, 2023). This was one of only a handful of cases where a conviction was overturned at the trial court level. Most conviction reversals occur at the intermediate Appellate Court or Court of Appeals level.
Similarly, he has argued for and obtained the reversal of a church foreclosure at the appellate court.
